City Lights Apartments - South Perth (right) This project was awarded the 1998 MBA Excellence in Construction Awards, Division 8, (Multi-storey Accommodation). Airey Taylor Consulting consulted extensively with Architects, the Buchan Group, to produce a design which maximised the use of tilt-up walling and precast vertical elements. Conventional pad footings were used with tilt-up concrete perimeter retaining walls around the upper and lower basement. Walls were tilted to the full 5 storey height with tilt panels including the lift cores. Floor slabs were a insitu Bondek slab system with concrete reinforced band beams for ground and typical floors. The structure has a flat plate roof slab, and an innovative 4 storey high concrete column allowed bedroom balconies to cantilever over the car ramp which was located adjacent to the narrow site. |

Regency Apartments for the Fini Group : Airey Taylor Consulting was commissioned by Fini Group to review the structural design and documentation prepared by others to achieve economics through more effective structural solutions. This has been achieved and the 25 unit/ four level development, including café, in East Perth was completed 1999."Swan Rivage" Apartments and Timeshare Development: Airey Taylor Consulting was instrumental in providing the full design and documentation for twin tower structures of 28 and 17 storeys each, with timeshare apartment building of 20 storeys . This proposal to be located on Perth foreshore set new standards of excellence in competitive architectural and engineering design, but did not proceed due to commercial considerations. Airey Taylor Consulting has since been commissioned to provide the design for the structural component of Panorama Twin Tower Apartment Blocks on the same site. A luxury 17 floor twin tower apartment building currently under construction. The construction comprises precast walls and floors for the tower section with reinforced concrete transfer floor over the car parking level. The car parking floors are post-tensioned insitu concrete. The Goldman Apartments : Designed by Architects, Buchan Group, and Consulting Engineers, Airey Taylor Consulting, this complex of six luxury units in an eight level development exemplifies flexible structural design translating into cost-effective construction. This project, located in Darley Street, South Perth was awarded the 1999 MBA Excellence in Construction Award, with Airey Taylor Consulting as Project Engineers.Airey Taylor Consulting consulted extensively with the Project Architects, Buchan Group, to ensure that apart from the stair shaft, no internal wall was load bearing. This flexibility permitted immense individual choice of internal layout to future owners, as well as outstanding speed of erection. The demand for excellence in every facet of the project, including acoustically excellent separation between floors, created a degree of structural design complexity which was both interesting and challenging. |
