RESIDENTIAL - Single & Multiple Low Rise
Airey Taylor Consulting understands the particular challenge involved in meeting the requirement for flexibility in individual home design. We offer responsive solutions to architectural concept designs and have won awards for design excellence in individual housing.

Luxury Homes: The Baker Residence – Cottesloe.
An outstanding example of residential design, this project was architecturally designed by Banham & Associates, with the structural component by Airey Taylor Consulting. This prestigious project was awarded the RAIA Commendation Category Single Residential in 1996.

Durability is a major design factor for structures located in the harsh environment of Perth’s beachside suburbs. Special design criteria is required for minimisation of maintenance of concrete structures in coastal and near coastal regions.

Airey Taylor Consulting ensured that special high strength, high durability concrete mix was specified, together with appropriate reinforcement cover. Galvanised reinforcement was also used in many locations, as well as stainless steel items for lintels and roof sheeting. We also designed the retaining walls on the sloping site overlooking Cottesloe beach.

Innovative Housing Structures: Dobson House, Cottesloe.

This multi-award winning project, built in 1982, represented Perth’s first rammed earth house, with advanced use of post-tensioned, cement stablised rammed earth construction. This system was pioneered by Airey Taylor Consulting and Stephen Dobson of Ramtec Pty Ltd in Darwin in 1976. The technology has now achieved community acceptance and has been used for buildings ranging from churches to industrial facilities, in seismic and high wind cyclonic zones.

Home of Year Award, 1982. Winner of Innovation Award to Ramtec Pty Ltd. Winner of Individual Designed Homes (to $80,000) Group 1. Winner of the James Hardie Innovation Award.

Cyclonic Wind Loading Structures

Airey Taylor Consulting has extensive experience in the design of housing in cyclonic wind loading areas. The structures designed in Western Australia and the Northern Territory have withstood high cyclonic winds and major ancillary damage where others have been demolished or suffered serious damage.

Numerous housing projects have been successfully designed in the North West for Homeswest and private developers at Karratha, Pannawonica, Shay Gap, Darwin, Dampier and Broome. This includes a rammed earth quadruplex development in Roebourne for the W.A. Aboriginal Housing Development and multiple houses for the Tkalka Boorda Community in Port Hedland.

Residential Pool Design

Airey Taylor Consulting has designed the structural component of hundreds of residential pools throughout the State.

Bond Residence, Dalkeith. This 25m lap entertainment pool won the 1990 National Spa and Pool Institute of Australia, Gold National Award and International Pool of the Year.
